Can I keep my Dutch mobile number when moving abroad?

Yes, if your active +31 mobile number is eligible to transfer. Start before the old line is disconnected and keep it active through verification. Availability depends on the carrier and number type, so check eligibility before cancelling your existing service.

How do I transfer a Dutch mobile number?

Request number retention through the new provider and keep the old line active. The new provider coordinates cancellation. Dutch number porting itself is free and remains available for at least one month after termination.

How long does Dutch mobile number porting take?

Technical activation must occur on the agreed date or within one working day afterward. Simyo advises up to seven working days from a prepaid line, while contract notice periods can make the full order longer.

Will bank verification codes and 2FA texts still arrive abroad?

Your transferred number remains a real +31 mobile number, so supported bank messages, one-time codes, and verification texts can keep arriving in the app. No provider can guarantee delivery from every bank or short-code sender.

Can Google Voice keep a Dutch +31 number?

No. Personal Google Voice porting accepts active US mobile numbers only. Dutch +31 mobile numbers are not eligible.

Can Simyo Prepaid keep my Dutch number abroad?

Yes, if you activate and maintain the prepaid line. Simyo requires a qualifying paid action at least every six months. Abroad, calls and texts depend on SIM or eSIM roaming because its Wi-Fi Calling currently works only in the Netherlands.
